Meeting Focus: Student Peer Mentoring Programs
The meeting will be a panel discussion examining student peer programs programs that have been operating in and from the University of Sydney. Apart from practical information around the logistics of running mentoring programs, there will be a focus on how students are best engaged- both mentors and mentees, the delivery and need for specific information as opposed to generic program information and evaluating processes. There will be the opportunity to speak directly with the panel with a large proportion of time allocated for Q&A.
It will be a small group and that there will ample opportunity for people to ask specific questions about their WPSN project and/or mentoring program.
Nerida Jarkey, Director of Student Support Programs in the Faculty of Arts. Nerida has a wealth of experience in running the Faculty of Arts mentoring program.
Jordi Austin, Director Student Support Services
Jordi has a background in counselling and has extensive experience in Student Services, including the running of specialised programs targeting specific cohorts of students at the University
Adam Hansen, Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience (AIME) Sydney City Program Manager
Adam has worked for AIME for the last two years and is now the Program Manager (Sydney City). Adam has extensive hands on knowledge of Aime, including overseeing a large group of university volunteers and is able to share information on some of the recent impacts of the program and its expansion.
