Research Scholarships

Postgraduate Scholarship in Perinatal Medicine
A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably qualified candidate with a good academic record to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in Perinatal Medicine; the project is to determine the mechanisms that regulate the maternal immune system; applicants must have an Honours degree in maternal medicine, possess relevant skills, and be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand citizens; $22,860pa; up to one year.
Closing Date:  7 October 2011

The Cooke, Cooke, Coghlan, Godfrey and Littlejohn Scholarship
The Cooke, Cooke, Coghlan, Godfrey and Littlejohn scholarship is to encourage innovative legal research and is awarded based on academic merit and quality of the proposed program of research; open to graduates in law of the University of Sydney who enrol full-time in a higher degree either within the Sydney Law School or at another institution of similar standing, or to any graduate of any other university who enrols full-time in a higher degree in the Sydney Law School; valued at $20,000pa (if held at other institution)or the APA rate (if held at Sydney Law School); awarded for one year in the first instance.

John O'Brien Memorial Research Scholarship in Criminal Law and Criminology
This scholarships is aimed towards students in criminal law; awarded on the basis of academic merit and the proposed program of research; applicants must be enrolling in a postgraduate degree in the University of Sydney Law School for the study of criminal law or criminology; valued at the same rate as the APA ($22,860pa in 2011); up to two years for Masters or three years for doctoral candidates.
Closing Date: 16 November 2011

Longworth Scholarship
This scholarship is to assist an exemplary and needy law student to further his or her career in law; awarded based on academic merit,  character and financial need; applicants must be graduates in law enrolled in a postgraduate course or research degree program at the Sydney Law School; $13,546pa (value in 2012); up to one year.
Closing Date: 16 November 2011


Reca Stone Scholarship in Legal Theory
This scholarship is to assist an exemplary and needy postgraduate research student working in the field of legal theory to further his or her research; awarded based on academic merit, research in the field of legal theory, and financial need; applicants must be undertaking a full-time research program at the Sydney Law School; $7,853pa (value in 2012); up to one year.
Closing Date: 16 November 2011

Ross Waite Parsons Scholarship

This scholarship aims to encourage innovative legal research at the University of Sydney;

awarded based on academic merit and quality of the proposed research program; applicants

must be enrolling in a Doctor of Philosophy, Doctor of Juridical Studies, or one of the
research Master's degrees offered by the Faculty of Law; valued at the same rate as the APA ($22,860pa in 2011); up to one year for Masters or two years for doctoral candidates.
