Campbell Weston Perry Scholarship
A PhD scholarship for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
In association with The Australian Human Rights Commission, the University of Sydney is offering a full-time PhD scholarship to commence in 2012 Semester one to a suitably qualified and experienced Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander for a research project that focuses on lateral violence in Aboriginal communities; valued at $30,000 per annum (tax exempt) for three years, and up to an additional $20,000 for materials and travel costs to facilitate the research and community consultation phases of the project; further information is available from http://sydney.edu.au/scholarships/research/index.shtml#cwp

Postgraduate Scholarship in Polycystic Kidney Disease
A full-time PhD scholarship leading is available for a suitably qualified candidate to develop new treatments to prevent kidney failure due to polycystic kidney disease; the project will utilize animal and cell-culture models of polycystic kidney disease; applicants should have a medical degree or an honours degree in pharmacy or science and must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand citizens; valued at the 2012 NHMRC rates; up to one year.

Postgraduate Scholarship on Adhesion Study of Polymer and Cement Based Coatings on Cement Pipe Substrates

A full-time PhD scholarship funded by an ARC Linkage-Project grant is available in engineering; the research project looks at the premature failure of coatings by delamination and cracking in sewer systems; applicants should have an Honours 1 or 2A or equivalent in a relevant field; international students may apply for this scholarship however this scholarship does not include tuition fees payable by international students; $25,000pa; up to 3 years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Dermatology: clinically based
A full-time PhD scholarship is available for a suitable candidate to undertake research studies leading to a MPhil in dermatology; the project is to investigate the effects of nicotinamide on skin cancer incidence in renal transplant recipients; applicants must have a medical qualification (MBBS) and must be citizens or permanent residents of Australia; $31,000pa; up to 2 years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Dermatology: laboratory based
A full-time PhD scholarship is available for a suitable candidate to undertake research studies leading to a MPhil in dermatology; the project is to investigate the effects of nicotinamide on DNA repair in vitro after ultraviolet radiation and chemically-induced DNA damage; applicants must have a medical qualification (MBBS) and must be citizens or permanent residents of Australia; $31,000pa; up to 2 years.

PhD Scholarship in Medicine (Psychosocial burden of rare diseases on Australian children and families)
A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available to a suitably qualified candidate to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in Medicine; the project aims to determine the functional, financial and psychological burden of rare diseases on affected children and their families, as well as their needs and preferences for education and support services; applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand citizens and should have a good honours degree in a relevant field; $27, 651pa; up to three years;  this scholarship is conditional on the University signing an agreement with the Partner Organisations(s) named in the Linkage Project grant.

PhD Scholarship in Medicine (Complexity and cost of health service utilisation by children with rare diseases)
A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available to a suitably qualified candidate to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in Medicine; the project aims to determine the financial impact of rare childhood diseases on a large paediatric hospital; applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand citizens and should have a good honours degree in a relevant field; $27, 651pa; up to three years;  this scholarship is conditional on the University signing an agreement with the Partner Organisations(s) named in the Linkage Project grant.
