Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade 

Title:

The Australia-India Council (AIC) Grants

Description:

The Australia-India Council (AIC) welcomes funding applications from
individuals and organisations in Australia for projects which are likely
to promote long-term contact and cooperation between Australia and
India. AIC grants are intended to provide seed funds for innovative
proposals relevant to the mission and goals of the Council.

The Council gives priority to projects in the following areas:

*	The Arts (including literature and film) 

*         Education 

*         Social initiatives (including public health and sport) 

*         Science/Technology/Environment 

*         Public Policy Activities (including media links) 

Amount awarded:

Grant amounts will be considered on a proposal basis, major grant
funding of AUD 20,000 or more for any single activity will only be
provided in exceptional circumstances and where the Council decides the
project will become a priority activity of the AIC in that financial
year.

apply to use its powerful grid technology at no cost for projects that
benefit humanity. Grid technology enables researchers to access
tremendous amounts of power, exceeding that of several supercomputers,
to run complex computations and to accelerate the pace of their
research. Research results must be made available to the global research
community and will be made available on World Community Grid's web site.

World Community Grid supports research that is:

*	Focused on solving problems to benefit humanity;

*         Conducted by public or nonprofit organizations;

*         Contributed to the public domain; and

*         Accelerated by grid computing technology.

Description:

The Keio Medical Science Prize gives recognition to the outstanding and
creative achievements of researchers in the fields of medicine and life
sciences, in particular those contributing to scientific developments in
medicine. Keio's objectives are:

*	to promote worldwide advances in medicine and life sciences

*         to encourage international academic exchange and expansion of
the international network of medical researchers

*         to contribute to the well-being of humankind

Eligibility:

Nominees must be researchers in medicine or life sciences closely
related to medicine and preferably currently active in their field of
research. The Keio Medical Science Prize is an international award.

The Australian Dental Association is an organisation of dentists which
has as its aim the encouragement of the health of the public and the
promotion of the art and science of dentistry. The Australian Dental
Association Inc is a national association of dentists committed to
promoting the art, science and ethical practice of dentistry, improving
the oral health of the community and enhancing the professional lives of
its members. 

Amount awarded:

Foundation grants in recent years have seldom exceeded $10,000 and have
averaged around $5,000

Description:

The Foundation periodically identifies a priority area of focus. The
Foundation's current priority area of focus is Programs focused on
identifying and/or remedying reading issues in children, with a
particular interest in early intervention programs.

Rather than inviting applications from a broad section of the public,
the Foundation will each year identify potential candidates for grants
in the Foundation's nominated priority area.

Application guide:

Although organisations should no longer apply to the Foundation for a
grant, if an organisation has a project which relates to the
Foundation's current priority area, it may register a request to be
considered by the Foundation.

Registration is open for the Consumer & community participation in
primary health care research training workshop

United Kingdom).The workshop was developed in response to queries from
researchers and students on practical ways to start involving consumers

Royal Society of Victoria Medal for Scientific Research 2011

Title:

Category III: Earth Sciences (2011)

Description:

Nominations are invited for the Royal Society of Victoria Medal for
Scientific Research 2011 in Category III: Earth Sciences. This category
includes research in the disciplies of Geology, Geochemistry,
Geochronology, Geophysics, Planetary Physics, Meteorology, Oceanography,
Physical Geography and related sciences. 

Nominations must be submitted by close of business 31 March 2011.

The medal will be awarded solely on the basis of research work published
and/or accepted for publication in referred international journals
during the six year period from 1 January 2005 to 31 December 2010.

The work shall have been carried out in Australia (including its
territories), or on Australia (Victoria is preferred.)

Title:

Marie Curie International Research Staff Exchange Scheme 

Description:

The European Commission has published a new call for the Marie Curie
International Research Staff Exchange Scheme (IRSES) targeting projects
starting at the end of 2011.

The International Research Staff Exchange Scheme aims at strengthening
research partnerships through short staff exchanges between 2 or more
European research organisations and organisations from countries like
Australia, Canada, NZ, USA, etc and for a period of 24-48 months.
Individual staff exchanges will not exceed 12 months.

Application guide:

Proposals are submitted electronically via the Commission's Electronic
Proposal Submission Service (EPSS). Proposals are submitted, and are
evaluated by external independent experts against a series of
predetermined criteria. The lead participant or coordinator must be from
Europe.
