Discovery Indigenous scheme for funding commencing in 2012 - Proposals
are now open in RMS

Discovery Indigenous (DI) Proposals for funding commencing in 2012 are
now available for drafting and submission in the ARC Research Management
System (RMS) which is accessible via the ARC website
(https://rms.arc.gov.au <https://rms.arc.gov.au/> ). The closing date
for submission of Proposals is, Wednesday 7 June 2011.

Description:

A key function of the National Archives is to promote archival research
in Australia and encourage scholarly use of the National Archives
collection.

The National Archives offers three research grants for advanced research
and professional development:

Title:

Research Program

Description:

DVA's Applied Research Program (ARP) commissions research that
contributes to the development of improved policies and service
delivery, and/or enables the Department to better identify the health
and wellbeing needs of the veteran community.

The ARP funds a wide variety of research from many different disciplines
including medicine, epidemiology, health promotion, psychology,
economics, sociology and public policy. High quality cross-discipline
projects are encouraged.

To be successful an ARP application needs to be substantially veteran
specific not just beneficial to veterans as a subset of the general
population. These can be found in the guideline on the website.

Title:

Research Grants in Aid Program

Description:

The Leukaemia Foundation invites expressions of interest for
grants-in-aid for research projects to support basic, applied and
translational research in Australia into the causes, treatment and care
of people living with leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and related blood
disorders. Applicants are encouraged to develop innovative approaches to
haematological problems, especially in the areas of basic or fundamental
research.

Eligibility:

Persons working in a public hospital, university, or recognised research
institute in Australia will be eligible to apply for research funding,
fellowships and scholarships from the Foundation.

Amount awarded:

$50,000 - $110,000 per annum for one year only.

Title:

ADS-Servier National Diabetes Strategy Grants 

Description:

The ADS Council is calling for applications for the ADS-Servier National
Diabetes Strategy Grants in Memory of Barry Young. Consistent with the
focus of ADS and Servier, the grants will be for clinical projects that
involve improvement of patient care consistent with the aims of the
National Service Improvement.

Framework for Diabetes as paraphrased below:
1. Prevent and limit the progression of diabetes
2. Slow the onset of complications
3. Reduce preventable hospital admissions
4. Reduce variations in care between clinicians and health services,
across metropolitan, rural and remote settings and in care provided to
disadvantaged groups
5. One investigator must be a current financial ADS member

The Marine National Facility (MNF) supports research in Australia's
regional seas and oceans and is available to Australian marine
researchers and their international collaborators.

Currently the RV Southern Surveyor - can undertake research in:

*	physical, chemical and biological oceanography
*	marine geosciences
*	fisheries
*	environmental science

The vessel is particularly suited to multi-disciplinary research
projects.
