General Research Grants 

Description:

The Leakey Foundation was formed to foster research into human origins.
The Foundation exclusively funds research related specifically to human
origins, including paleoanthropology, genetics, primate behaviour, and
studies of modern hunter-gatherer groups. Other areas of study are
generally not funded.

Eligibility:

Advanced doctoral students as well as established scientists are
eligible for general research grants.

Amount awarded:

Grants are awarded up to US$22,000

Title:

Research Grants 

Description:

Grants are limited under the terms of the foundation's charter to
projects that primarily benefit programs for human nutrition in the
areas of health, education, training, and research.  The policies and
priorities of the Allen Foundation:

*	To make grants to fund relevant nutritional research. 

*         To support programs for the education and training of mothers
during pregnancy and after the birth of their children, so that good
nutritional habits can be formed at an early age. 

*         To assist in the training of persons to work as educators and
demonstrators of good nutritional practices. 

*         To encourage the dissemination of information regarding
healthful nutritional practices and habits. 

*         In limited situations to make grants to help solve immediate
emergency hunger and malnutrition problems. 

Eligibility:

Academic research under an Allen Foundation grant must be conducted
under the leadership of a principal investigator who is a full-time
regular faculty member with tenure or on tenure tract.

Dairy Innovation Australia Limited (DIAL)

Title:

Products Research Grants

Description:

Proposed projects should be targeted to provide research solutions in
line with DIAL strategic objectives and priorities.

Large and small project applications are welcome, especially those
addressing industry technical problems, enhancing industry
sustainability or potentially transforming industry practice and
potential. Funding will be considered for projects on any scale within
the program budget.

Applications are invited in any related research area. Specialist
reviews of technology opportunities may also be funded. 

Projects within the Processes and Products stream cover the areas of:

*         Dairy powders and ingredients, their manufacture and their
application

*         Novel and improved manufacturing processes  

*         Cheese, yoghurt and cultures (not probiotics)

*         Generic product quality issues 

Amount awarded:

A minimum of $200,000 in funding is available in each year of this
program.

Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation (RIRDC)

Title:

National Weeds and Productivity Research Program

Description:

RIRDC is inviting proposals for research projects to find solutions to
address Australia's weeds problem. Applications must address the four
research objectives which can be found here

Anyone intending to apply must contact Luda Kuchieva
<mailto:luda.kuchieva at sydney.edu.au>  asap. All draft proposals should
be emailed to Luda by 6th December 2010.

Eligibility:

*         Preference will be given to research that involves national
collaboration between organisations and includes community and/or
industry-based groups and landholders in its design and implementation.

*         Proposed research must not duplicate activities which are
being funded under other Australian Government programs.

*         Research that builds on previous or current weeds research and
requires further investigation of issues for completion, and/or
assistance to make technology or knowledge available for use are
encouraged

*         All project activities must comply with relevant local
government, State, Territory and Commonwealth legislation

Application guide:

Applicants without a Clarity ID are required to submit their proposals
through a two stage process. Applicants who already have an ID can go
straight to stage 2:

Stage 1: - Only for applicants who do not have a Clarity User ID

Fill in the National Weeds and Productivity Program Stage 1 Application
form and email the completed document to weeds at rirdc.gov.au by 5:00pm,
10th of December 2010. Once RIRDC has received this document a Clarity
User ID and Password will be provided. 

Stage 2 

When a Clarity User ID and logon have been provided to the applicant,
proposals will need to be submitted via Clarity as Full Research
Proposals by 5:00pm, 13th of December 2010.
