Title:
Short-Term Fellowships
Description:
The Fellowships awarded at the John Carter Brown Library are reserved
exclusively for scholars whose work is centred on the colonial history
of the Americas, North and South, including all aspects of the European,
African, and Native American involvement.
* All John Carter Brown Library Fellowships are residential and
fellows must relocate to Providence and be in continuous residence at
the Library for the entire term of the award.
Eligibility:
Fellowships are open to Americans and foreign nationals who are engaged
in pre- or post-doctoral, or independent, research.
Amount awarded:
Fellowships are available for periods of two to four months and carry a
stipend of US$2,100 per month.

Title:
Harry Windsor Research Grants
Description:
The Australian Respiratory Council (ARC) is seeking to award several
one-year research grants of approximately $50,000 each in 2011.
These awards are being offered nationally to support research in:
* Tuberculosis
* Respiratory diseases related to other infections
* Smoking-related respiratory diseases
Eligibility:
To be eligible, you must have submitted an NHMRC Project Grant for
funding in 2011. Offers will be made on the basis of merit to those
applicants who did not make the cut-off for NHMRC funding.
In order to apply, the chief investigator on the relevant Project Grant
is required to send the Application ID number and the original title of
their NHMRC application to research at thearc.org.au by no later than 12
November 2010.
Applicants shortlisted will be invited to submit a full application to
be submitted by 13 December 2010.
Amount awarded: $50,000 each

Description:
Parkinson's NSW is a non-profit company formed to promote, disseminate
and fund research
into all aspects of Parkinson's disease.
It is expected that successful applicants will acknowledge the support
of Parkinson's NSW in all publications, presentations, summary findings
and media announcements relating to the research, provide progress
reports on the research and be prepared to assist Parkinson's NSW, if
required, by speaking at a function, attending specified conferences,
hosting
laboratory visits, or being featured in media articles/releases for
Parkinson's NSW.
Eligibility:
Principal researcher must be a resident of NSW and all research is to be
conducted in NSW.
Amount awarded:
Unity Walk Research Grant up to the value of $60,000 and seed grants up
$50,000 each (exclusive of GST)

World Community Grid - Request for Proposal
Description:
World Community Grid invites public and not-for-profit organisations to
apply to use its powerful grid technology at no cost for projects that
benefit humanity. Grid technology enables researchers to access
tremendous amounts of power, exceeding that of several supercomputers,
to run complex computations and to accelerate the pace of their
research. Research results must be made available to the global research
community and will be made available on World Community Grid's web site.
World Community Grid supports research that is:
* Focused on solving problems to benefit humanity
* Conducted by public or nonprofit organizations
* Contributed to the public domain
* Accelerated by grid computing technology

Description:
The DuPont Australia and New Zealand Innovation Awards recognise the
commercialisation of outstanding science and technology.
The DuPont Australia and New Zealand Innovation Awards recognise the
introduction of something new, creative and valuable - a new idea,
method, technology, application, product or service. The innovation must
have been first ordered and/or adopted for commercial use in Australia
and/or New Zealand between 1 January 2008 and 31 March 2010.
All entries must demonstrate how the innovation:
* improves Australia's competitiveness
* illustrates Australia's innovative spirit
* demonstrates tenacity ie: having been sustained against all
difficulties; was challenging, demanding or complex
* improves environmental sustainability

Title:
International Short Visits
Description:
The International Short Visits of the SNSF allow for researchers to come
to Switzerland. The visits can last between one week and three months
and are limited to one person.
The main aim of this funding instrument, which is open to all fields of
research, is to initiate or to consolidate international collaborations.
To reach this aim, short research projects between the host institute
and the visiting fellow should be carried out during the stay. There
should be an exchange of knowledge that is beneficial to both
co-applicants and their institutions.
Eligibility:
The visiting fellow must meet the following eligibility criteria:
* Hold a doctorate (or an equivalent degree);
* Aim to initiate or consolidate, thanks to his/her visit, a
continued collaboration between both labs/institutes;
* Not already have received support for this funding instrument
within the last three years. Even after this period, applications can be
subjected to restrictions.
Amount awarded:
The SNSF pays lump sums contributing solely to travel (one round trip)
and living expenses of the visiting fellow.
