Description:
C.H. Currey Memorial Fellowship
The aim of the C.H.Currey Memorial Fellowship is to promote the writing
of Australian history from original sources of information, preferably
making use of the collections of the State Library of New South Wales.
The amount of the Fellowship is $20,000.
Nancy Keesing Fellowship
The Fellowship aims to promote the State Library of New South Wales as a
centre of research into Australian life and culture and to provide a
readily accessible record of the Fellowship project. This may be in the
form of bibliographical or collection analysis, or historical or
creative non-fiction. The amount of the Fellowship for 2010 is $12,000.

ERCP Workshop - Royal North Shore Hospital - 11th August 2010
The RNSH ERCP Workshop is designed for physicians. It will include live
demonstrations, focused didactic presentations and panel discussions
related to therapeutic ERCP.
Topics to be addressed will include:

* Cannulation techniques
* Minimising complications
* Sphincterotomy techniques
* Stone extraction
* Biliary stent placement

Title:
Grants-in-Aid for research into motor neurone disease in 2011
Description:
The MND Research Institute of Australia regards its role as one of
providing seed-funding for research that is innovative and having a
clear relationship to the causes, treatments and cures of MND or the
support of people living with MND. Accordingly, the majority of funds
available through the Institute are for grants-in-aid of MND research in
Australia.
Eligibility:
Researchers working in Australia in fields that are relevant to motor
neurone disease are invited to apply for funding.
Amount awarded:
Applications for grants-in-aid up to a maximum value of $100,000 will be
considered. Fourteen grants-in-aid were awarded for 2010 with an average
value of about $32,500.

Bill Gole MND Postdoctoral Fellowship (2011 - 2013)
Description:
The Fellowships of the MND Research Institute of Australia aim to
encourage young researchers to focus their interest on MND.
The Bill Gole MND Postdoctoral Fellowship is directed towards
postdoctoral scientists with a track record in areas of neuroscience
related to motor neurone disease.
Applications for this prestigious research Fellowship for motor neurone
disease research in Australia should include:
* a detailed research plan for a three-year project (which will be
relevant to the cause, treatment or cure of MND),
* a full curriculum vitae, including the names of three academic
referees who must provide reports before the deadline
* a covering letter from a sponsoring institution confirming that
laboratory space and consumables will be provided for the project.
Eligibility:
* At 27 August 2010, applicants must have no more than three years
research
experience from the date their doctoral thesis was passed.
* Applicants who will submit their completed doctoral thesis before the
end of 2010 will
be considered, but the Fellowship cannot be taken up by the applicant
until the thesis
has been passed.
Amount awarded:
$75,000 p.a.

Benign Essential Blepharospasm Research Foundation works to undertake,
promote, develop, and carry on the search for the cause and a cure for
benign essential blepharospasm and other related disorders and
infirmities of the facial musculature.
Research proposals must relate specifically to benign essential
blepharospasm and Meige to include new treatments, pathophysiology and
genetics, photophobia and dry eye. Investigators in charge of research
protocols should submit a curriculum vitae and 10 copies of their
proposals
Funds up to $150,000 are available for support of research directly
related to blepharospasm or Meige's Syndrome, both forms of cranial
dystonia
Eligibility:
M.D. or Ph.D. required for principal investigator
Non-U.S. citizens, working at institutions abroad are eligible to apply

Description:

The Heart Foundation offers funding to early career researchers working
in the area of cardiovascular disease or related areas. Travel Grants
are available to support Australian researchers travelling to present
their cardiovascular research at an conference overseas. They are also
available to Indigenous health researchers travelling to present their
research in Australia.
Eligibility:
Applicants may only receive one travel grant per year and up to two
travel grants during their pre and postdoctoral training.

2011 Research Awards
Description:
The Australian Institute of Nuclear Science and Engineering (AINSE)
makes awards in support of projects undertaken by its member
universities which have an identifiable focus on nuclear and
nuclear-related applications. The primary purpose of AINSE is to enable
university researchers to gain access to and train in the use of the ASF
facilities and gain access to the expertise at Lucas Heights and
elsewhere. AINSE Awards are usually in the form of cash which is
transferred to the university once the facility usage is confirmed.
The Awards:
* cover the costs associated with the use of the AINSE listed
facilities
* contribute to the cost of travel and/or accommodation when the
university researcher lives in a city different from that in which the
facility is located
* contribute toward the cost of equipment and/or materials
Amount awarded:
Average size of awards; $10,000.

The GRDC provides sponsorship assistance to organisations wishing to
conduct a conference, workshop, seminar or field day that directly
benefits the Australian grains industry. The aim is to develop the
skills and capacity required to achieve grains industry and GRDC
objectives. GRDC places a high priority on the dissemination and
communication of knowledge gained from the experience offered by
conference sponsorship.

Grains Industry Development Awards (IDA)
Description:
For travel between January 2011 and June 2011
The GRDC Industry Development Awards (IDAs) are specifically targeted at
groups of Australian graingrowers for study tours or other forms of
training approved by the GRDC. The aim is to develop new skills, build
relationships and acquire new information that will contribute to
building a sustainable and profitable grains industry.
The main criteria used in evaluating IDA applications include:
* the quality of the project and its relevance to grains industry needs
* the track record of the group/applicant
* scope of the learning objectives, and
* scope of the proposed communication plan.
IDAs may be for study tours or training within Australia or overseas or
for other purposes approved by the GRDC.
Support will be for up to six months and will not exceed $15,000 ex GST
per award.

up to $15,000

international visits by individuals and exchanges between two
candidates. The programme aims to build ICE WaRM's international
