Title:

Research Grants 2011

Description:

The Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
Studies research grants round, for funding starting in July 2011, is now
open for applications.

The Program will fund research into a wide range of areas in Aboriginal
and Torres Strait Islander Studies, such as history (including family
and community history), politics, law, public policy, health (social,
cultural and environmental aspects), biological sciences, education,
Indigenous knowledge systems, linguistics, social anthropology,
archaeology and the arts. 

Applications in the special emphasis categories of 'Relations with
Government', 'Economic Sustainability' and 'Knowledge About and Caring
for Country' are particularly invited.

Applicants should refer to the Information for Research Grant Applicants
for full details about how to apply.  All applications must be submitted
using the Research Grant Application Form.  These documents are
available from the AIATSIS website at:

The United States Studies Centre (USSC) 

Title:

2011-2012 Postdoctoral Fellowships

Description:

The United States Studies Centre at the University of Sydney invites
applications for its 2011-2012 class of Postdoctoral Fellows.

The fellowship program, directed by Professor Margaret Levi of the
United States Studies Centre and the University of Washington, is
designed to bring to Sydney a cohort of the world's rising scholarly
leaders working on the United States in the humanities, social sciences
and related professional disciplines.

The Centre will award up to six Fellowships for a 12-month period
commencing on 1 September 2011. Fellowships are open to scholars who
have a PhD awarded no earlier than 1 January 2004 as well as doctoral
students who will be awarded their PhDs by the end of 2011.

Fellows are expected to be in residence and to complete a major research
project as well as to engage with students and scholars in Sydney and
around Australia during the fellowship period.

Title:

Creativity Awards

Description:

The Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) is pleased to announce a funding
mechanism that will advance transformational prostate cancer research
through the support of high-potential creative research ideas not funded
by other mechanisms.

This round of awards will focus on funding Treatment Science: studies of
new ideas in man or laboratory support of a high impact clinical
investigation.

Eligibility:

Investigators representing non-profit academic research centers
worldwide are eligible to apply. Investigators from for-profit companies
and government-sponsored institutions, i.e. NIH, are ineligible.

Amount awarded:

These awards will cover direct research costs only, will be two years in
duration, and will provide $150,000 per year in support.

Title:

Education Scholar Grant 

Description:

To fund individuals in radiology or related disciplines who are seeking
an opportunity to develop their expertise in radiologic education. The
grant is intended to fund recipients' part-time salaries and educational
expenses such as books and tuition, while pursuing advanced training in
the field of education. The overall goal of this program is to develop
teachers and educational leaders in radiology who can effectively share
their knowledge with the radiology community.

Eligibility:

Applicant must be an RSNA Member

of application.

Applications are accepted from individuals throughout the world. The
Applicant must hold a full-time faculty position in a department of
radiology, radiation oncology, or nuclear medicine within an educational
institution.

Amount awarded:

Up to US$75,000 annually for 2 years.

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF)

Title:

Career Development Award

Description:

JDRF fosters the development and productivity of the best and the
brightest established independent researchers who will bridge the gap
between the bench and bedside. The primary purpose of the Career
Development Award is to attract qualified and promising scientists early
in their faculty careers and to give them the opportunity to establish
themselves in areas that reflect the JDRF research emphasis areas.

In the five-year term of the award, awardees will focus their research
efforts on a subject directly related to JDRF mission goals and research
priorities, and position themselves to work at the leading edge of type
1 diabetes research. These awards are designed to assist exceptionally
promising investigators. Although JDRF is especially interested in
fostering careers in clinical investigation, Career Development Awards
may emphasize either basic or clinical topics.

Eligibility:

The Career Development Award is intended for individuals in a relatively
early stage of their career. Ordinarily, their first degree (MD, PhD,
DMD, DVM, or equivalent) will have been received at least three but not
more than seven years before the award.

The applicant must hold an academic faculty level position (including
assistant professor or equivalent) at the time of the application, at a
university

Amount awarded:

Up to US$150,000 across 5 years

Advanced Postdoctoral Fellowship

Description:

Postdoctoral fellowships are designed to attract qualified, promising
scientists entering their professional career in the diabetes research
field. The applicant is required to work with a sponsor who can provide
a training environment conducive to beginning a career in type 1
diabetes-relevant research.

Eligibility:

The fellowships are intended for those in a relatively early stage of
their career. At the time of activating the award, the applicant must
have a doctoral degree (PhD, MD, DMD, DVM, or equivalent) from an
accredited institution and must not be simultaneously serving an
internship or residency and will have no more than 5 years before the
fellowship.

success and sustainability of Australia's agricultural, fisheries and
forestry industries.

Eligibility:

or forestry related industry (including food and sustainable natural
resource management)

Amount awarded:

Applicants can apply for up to $22,000 (GST inclusive)
