Introduction: WADA's mission is to promote, co-ordinate and monitor, on an international basis, the fight against doping in sport in all its forms. As part of its strategic objectives, WADA has identified both education and research as priorities. It is essential that anti-doping education programs and initiatives be based on scientific knowledge and evidence. Therefore a Social Sciences Research Grant Program has been created to encourage research in the social sciences and to obtain information, which will enable more efficient doping-prevention strategies.

Eligibility: Please refer to the website link below for more information.

Amount Awarded: The average budget of previously funded projects:

One year projects: US$17,420

Two year projects: US$30,300

The Leakey Foundation- General Research Grants

Introduction: The Leakey Foundation was formed to further research into human origins. Recent priorities include research into the environment, archaeology, and human palaeontology; into the behaviour, morphology, and ecology of the great apes and other primate species; and into the behavioural ecology of contemporary hunter-gatherers. Other areas of study are rarely considered. Priority for funding is given to the exploratory phases of promising new research projects that meet the stated purpose of the Foundation. The relevance of the project to understanding human origins must be explicit throughout your application.

Eligibility: Advanced doctoral students as well as established scientists are eligible for general research grants.

Amount Awarded: The limit of funding for a single proposal submitted by a post-doctoral applicant or a senior scientist is US$22,000.

Indirect Cost Recovery: This scheme is exempt from University of Sydney overhead charges.

Ø Support research that will translate into economic, health, environmental and social benefits for NSW.

Ø Expand the knowledge base and research capability in NSW.

Eligibility: Individual research workers who are interested in applying for a NSW Life Sciences Research Award should contact appropriate NSW institutions to discuss opportunities to work in NSW. Research workers already resident in NSW are not eligible. One joint application completed by the research worker and the institution should be submitted.

Amount Awarded: Support will be in the form of an award totalling $220,000 (inclusive of GST) over three years paid as a package.
