LLS encourages researchers to submit proposals outlining studies of the adverse sequelae of blood cancers and their therapies, in both adults and children, or of blood cancers secondary to other cancer treatments, including combination treatments and treatments with targeted agents. Preliminary results are not required but applicants are expected to develop new lines of research distinct from their ongoing research. There are two types of grants: New Investigators' Grants are for teams of scientists who are all within five years of establishing an independent laboratory and within ten years of obtaining their PhDs. Program Grants are for teams of scientists at all stages of their careers, however the participation of younger scientists is especially encouraged.
