Title:

Churchill Fellowships

Description:

The aim of The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust is to provide an
opportunity for Australians to travel overseas to conduct research in
their chosen field that is not readily available in Australia. No
prescribed qualifications are required. Merit of the proposed project is
a key factor and a desire to share the research findings with the
Australian community must be displayed. The subject of the proposed
project is limitless provided a benefit to Australia can be
demonstrated.

Amount awarded:

The average amount awarded is about $25,000.

Title:

Creativity Awards

Description:

The Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) is pleased to announce a funding
mechanism for supporting transformational prostate cancer research
through the development of high-potential creative research ideas that
are not funded by other mechanisms. This round of awards will focus on
funding treatment science: investigations of new ideas in man or
laboratory support of a high impact clinical investigation. We seek
applications from individuals proposing high-risk/high-reward concepts
that, if successful, could be the basis for a new treatment for advanced
prostate cancer. The awards are intended to bridge the gap between
existing research ideas and results that will justify more significant,
multi-year funding.

Treatment Science research with a high probability of near-term patient
benefit will be preferred in the following topic areas:

*         metabolism/adiposity/nutrition;

*         molecular imaging;

*         co-targeting tumor micro-environment

*         credentialing a new "first-in-field" molecular treatment
target;

*         enhancement of anti-neoplastic immune effects;

* "first-in-field" systemic treatment not listed above.

Eligibility:

Investigators representing non-profit academic research centers
worldwide are eligible to apply. Investigators from for-profit companies
and government-sponsored institutions, i.e. NIH, are ineligible.

Amount awarded:

These awards will cover direct research costs only, will be two years in
duration, and will provide $150,000 per year in support.

The Climate Change Research Program (CCRP)

Description:

The Climate Change Research Program (CCRP) currently funds research into

technologies that improve productivity and increase the sustainability
of the agricultural sector over the long term.

Demonstration of research on farms or by food processors is important in
encouraging the adoption of new practices. Projects submitted for
funding under the CCRP should demonstrate the latest technology
developments, backed by clear, reliable scientific research delivered
from a trusted source.

Expressions of Interest for demonstration projects should focus on
actions to lower farm and food processor greenhouse gas emissions and
increase productivity. Projects should also incorporate actions to
increase the ability to adapt to future climate change.

Research demonstration sites should bring together the best farming or
food processor management practices to illustrate the impacts on
productivity and emissions across the whole enterprise.

Collaborative projects involving farmers, food processors,
agribusinesses, regional groups and scientists and with multiple
activities are strongly encouraged
