responsibilities; and/or

* build the capacity of women's non-government organisations to

One main outcome of these grants is the development of initiatives that
increase women's social inclusion.

The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR)
- Innovative Projects 2008

Introduction: DEEWR is particularly seeking projects that have a focus
on community capacity building through literacy. We are interested in
projects which can demonstrate improved life skills attributed to a
focus on literacy. Innovative projects may focus on three areas, thus
providing a framework for applicants to assess their ideas for potential
projects:

Developing and/or trialling something new

Involves developing or introducing a product or service that is
completely new for a client group or groups. It will involve the
initiation, development and trialling of an idea from the beginning.

Developing a collaborative process

Collaboration between individuals, agencies, community and industry
groups in the field of adult literacy can be a source of an innovative
project. Collaboration can involve the use of representative steering
committees, working parties etc

Customising a product or process.

Customising a product or process involves the adaptation of an existing
product or process in the field of adult literacy to meet the needs of a
particular client group. The adaptation of the product or service will
require additional resources and the outcome will be a product or
service that is demonstrably different.

Eligibility: Please refer to website link below for more information.

Amount Awarded: Community Projects (maximum GST inclusive funding per
project $38,500); Strategic Projects (maximum GST inclusive funding per
project $66,000)

Indirect Cost Recovery: This scheme is subject to University of Sydney
indirect costs.

The Wenner-Gren Foundation- International Collaborative Research Grants

Introduction: The International Collaborative Research Grant (ICRG)
supports international research collaborations between two or more
qualified scholars, where the principal investigators bring different
and complementary perspectives, knowledge, and/or skills to the project.
Priority will be given to those applications that make a strong case for
a balanced collaboration between the applicant and co-applicant/s in all
aspects of the research: fieldwork, analysis, and eventual publication.
By encouraging international collaborations, the grant contributes to
the development of an international anthropology that values and
incorporates different national perspectives and resources. By providing
training funds, the grant helps to build capacity in countries were
anthropology may be under-resourced.

Eligibility: Each researcher must hold a doctorate or equivalent
qualification in anthropology or a related discipline.

Amount Awarded: The grants are for a maximum of US$30,000 for the
research project.

Indirect Cost Recovery: This scheme is exempt from University of Sydney
indirect costs.
