Arts NSW (Department Arts, Sports & Recreation)- NSW Writer's Fellowship and Western Sydney Artists' Fellowships
NSW Writer's Fellowship
The NSW Writer's Fellowship is offered annually by the Government to assist the writing of a new literary work by a writer living in New South Wales. Applicants are required to demonstrate that their proposal is likely to result in a work of significant quality; will be of demonstrable benefit to their development as a writer and will contribute to the advancement of Australian literature.
Closing date is 15th June 2007.

Western Sydney Artists' Fellowships
Grants under this program are intended to support the creative development of new work and/or professional development by Western Sydney artists (or groups of artists). In 2008 the fellowships will prioritise the artforms of music and literature. As well as providing financial assistance, the grants provide greater recognition of Western Sydney artists and of the arts in Western Sydney generally.
Closing date is 8th June 2007.

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Australia Pty Ltd- Research Program
Introduction: Educational institutions and suitably qualified individuals are invited to apply for funding to undertake applied research projects in relation to the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). The IELTS Joint Research Committee is interested in supporting external researchers to conduct quality research and particularly encourage applications to undertake research studies which fit within these broad areas:
* Test development and validation issues
* Issues relating to contexts of test use
* Issues of test impact
All IELTS research is managed by a Joint Research Committee which agrees research priorities and oversees the tendering process.

Amount Awarded: The maximum amount of funding which will be made available for any one proposal is £15,000/AUS$36,000 (including institutional overheads/taxes)

QLD Government- Responsible Gambling Research Grants Program
Introduction: The Program aims to enhance the quality and quantity of gambling related research and contribute to the development of gambling policy in Queensland. The Responsible Gambling Research Grants Program accepts applications for research grant funding across three program areas. The research programs and their aims are:
* Early intervention and prevention program:
* Consumer protection program
* Problem gambling management program
While these programs focus on the wider Queensland population, there is also a need to identify, tailor and target programs for specific sub-populations whether socio-economic, demographic, regional or cultural.

The British Academy- Research Projects
Introduction: The purpose of this scheme is to grant academic recognition to outstanding collaborative projects working to produce fundamental research. The Academy sees its association with such projects as part of its historic role, and benefits from being publicly associated with work of outstanding research significance. The Academy has identified three broad generic areas from which new proposals will be particularly welcome:
* Social Sciences
* The Modern World, post-1800
* The World outside Europe
Please note that the application process involves two stages. In the first instance the Outline Stage form only should be completed. Only those project directors invited to do so should complete the Second Stage Application Form.

Australian Huntington's Disease Association- Research Grants
Introduction: The Association places a high priority on research into Huntington Disease:
Small grants to graduate allied health professionals for expenses incidental to their research projects such as for equipment, travel and seminar/conference presentations (maximum grant $5,000)
Research Grants to health and allied health professionals for more substantial research. Research Priorities include:
* palliative care
* young people at risk
* children's experiences/quality of life
* improving the quality of life of people with Huntington Disease and their carers
* family relationships
Projects eligible for consideration are those that can demonstrate that they are consistent with the research priorities described above and that represent "value for money" in terms of the anticipated outcomes for Huntington Disease families.

Brain Australia Foundation- Research Grants
Introduction: The Foundation invites applications for research grants to support research projects in the clinical neurosciences. Each grant is to be used for equipment, support personnel such as research assistants or casual help, or other assistance necessary for a specific project. The committee will determine whether grants will be awarded in each of these categories:
* Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and other neurodegenerative diseases;
* Cerebrovascular and CSF diseases;
* Brain Tumours;
* Epilepsy;
* Neuromuscular disease;
* Pediatric Neurology;
* Neuro-trauma;
* Headache;
* Neural Infections; or
* Other
Applications must be no more than a TOTAL of four pages including biographical details, presented in Times Roman, 12 point font, and single spaced at least.
Eligibility: Preference is given to young investigators, either clinicians or neuroscientists, to help them establish an ongoing research program.
Amount Awarded: Each general grant awarded in 2007 could be up to $40,000.

Introduction: RANZCOG offers the following Travelling Grants:
The Brown Craig Travel Fellowship
The Fellowship shall be in the form of a grant to assist the successful applicant as follows: to present a scientific paper at the RANZCOG ASM, Gold Coast, Queensland, OR to visit any country outside Australia or New Zealand for the purpose of making a particular study of any scientific, research or clinical subject relating to the practice of obstetrics or gynaecology.

Australian Academy of Technological Sciences & Engineering (ATSE)- Clunies Ross Award
Since its establishment in 1991 by the Ian Clunies Ross Memorial Foundation, the ATSE Clunies Ross Award has become one of the pre-eminent awards for scientists, technologists and innovators across Australia.
The Award was designed, therefore, to identify and make known those people who have, often against difficulties and always with persistent commitment, made important contributions to science and its application for the economic, social or environmental benefit of Australia.
* Nominations are confidential and are sought in May on a national basis. The closing date for nominations is 31st July 2007.

Australian National Kennel Council- Canine Research Foundation Grants 2008
Introduction: The Canine Research Foundation is seeking applications for grants for the year 2008. Grants may be made by the Foundation for research projects relating to canine health. Projects may extend beyond one year but funding each year will be dependent upon satisfactory progress as given in interim reports.

Eligibility: Research must be conducted by an Australian university.
Amount Awarded: Grants per project will normally be in the order of $5,000-25,000 in any one year.

Korea Science & Engineering Foundation (KOSEF)- Australia-Korea Early Career Researchers Program
Introduction: The Australia-Korea Foundation, the Australian Academy of Science and the Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering would like to enhance Australia-Korea links in science and technology. These organisations, together with their Korean counterpart, the Korea Science and Engineering Foundation (KOSEF), have developed an Early Career S&T Researchers Program (ECRP). Its main aim is to develop an awareness of, and interest in Australia's research expertise in the ROK; and an awareness of, and interest in Korea's research expertise in Australia. The program would involve travel to Australia, and travel to the Republic of Korea in alternate years.

Eligibility: The scheme is aimed at early-career scientists from both countries. An early career researcher is one who holds a doctorate degree, which must have been received within three years from the date of application.
