ARC LINKAGE INFRASTRUCTURE, EQUIPMENT AND FACILITIES (LIEF) - FOR
FUNDING COMMENCING IN 2008

 

University of Sydney Expressions of Interest are now open

 

University of Sydney researchers intending to apply for an ARC LIEF
grant commencing in 2008 AS  EITHER A USYD LEAD BID OR AS PART OF A
COLLABORATING INSTITUTION BID must submit an Expression of Interest
(EoI), prior to a full application.  EoIs must be made electronically
into the Research Office database (IRMA) by 30th March 2007.  Applicants
will be advised to proceed to full application by April 10th 2007.
Final LIEF applications led by USyd are due to the Research Office by
4th May 2007.  

 

Expressions of interest require basic information on the piece of
equipment, cost and indicative financial contributions and collaborating
organisations.

LIEF Funding Rules for funding commencing in 2008 are now available from
the ARC website: http://www.arc.gov.au/ncgp/lief/lief_default.htm

 

Reminder of major issues:

*      The minimum total cost of equipment requested is $134,000. The
ARC will fund up to 75% of the total cost (minimum of $100,000) with the
balance provided by collaborating institutions. USyd applications,
however, usually request up to 60-65% only of the total cost; 

*      Each collaborating organisation must usually contribute in cash
at least 20% of the highest cash contribution made by any of the
collaborating organisations;

*      The DVCR will contribute 50% of the University of Sydney cash
contribution.  The remaining 50% must come from
Faculties/Schools/Units/other sources, and although no written
confirmation of these contributions is required at the EoI stage,
applicants are strongly encouraged to contact Deans and Heads regarding
their EoI. EoIs proceeding to full application will require written
approval of cash contributions by the end of April.
