The National Museum of Australia- National Museum Fellowships

 

The Visiting Fellowships scheme encourages research relating to the
Museum's collections and programs and maintains a flux of new ideas and
expertise in the Museum. 

Fellows are expected to undertake a research project that expands
knowledge about the Museum's fields of interest or its collections, or
museology and museum practice.  Applications are invited from: senior
academics, independent scholars, and museum professionals.

Academy of Social Sciences in Australia (ASSA)- Australia- India
Exchange Program  

 

Introduction: The ASSA and Indian Council of Social Science Research
(ICSSR) welcome applications for the Australia-India Exchange Program.
The Academies facilitate visits by scholars to research institutes or
conferences in India, for a period of one to two weeks.  The aims of the
program include collaboration between Australian and Indian scholars,
the opportunity for access to research and research materials not easily
accessible outside the countries concerned.  Scholars accepted under the
program are expected to submit a report to the Academy upon their return
to Australia.  

Eligibility: Please refer to website link below for more information.  

Amount Awarded: Up to a maximum of AUD$6,000.

Overheads: This scheme is exempt from University of Sydney overhead

The Gerald R. Ford Foundation- Research Travel Grants Program 

 

Introduction: The Gerald R. Ford Foundation awards grants  in support of
research in the holdings of the Gerald R. Ford Library.  A grant defrays
travel, living, and photocopy expenses of a research trip to the Ford
Library.  Library collections focus on Federal policies, U.S. foreign
relations, and national politics in the 1960s and 1970s. There are
earlier and later materials depending upon your topic.  

Eligibility: Overseas applicants are welcome to apply, but they will be
responsible for the costs of travel between their home country and North
America. The grants only cover travel within North America.  

Amount Awarded: Awards grants of up to US$2,000.

Overheads: This scheme is exempt from University of Sydney overhead
charges.

Australian Rotary Health Research Fund (ARHRF)- Grant investigating
Phenylketonuria  

 

Introduction: The principal goal of the ARHRF is to encourage, promote,
stimulate and aid medical and health research in Australia.
Applications are invited in the research area of Phenylketonuria cancer.
The research must be carried out at an appropriate University or
Research Institute in New South Wales.  Only researchers in New South
Wales, Australia are eligible to apply.

Eligibility: Applicants must be an Australian citizen or have Permanent
Resident Status and not be under bond to any foreign government. 

Amount Awarded: A maximum of $54,000 pa and is available for a duration
of two years.

Overheads: This scheme is exempt from University of Sydney overhead
charges.

The Mazda Foundation- Research Grants 

 

Introduction: The Foundation's current priority area of focus is
Projects focussed on the health risks for young people arising out of
obesity, such as diabetes, and other related health issues. Although
organisations should no longer apply to the Foundation for a grant, if
an organisation has a project which relates to the Foundation's current
priority area, it may register a request to be considered by the
Foundation by lodging a Project Notification.  If lodging a Project
Notification form, please note that: 

*      the project must fall within the Foundation's nominated priority
area; 

*      the organisation must be an eligible recipient under the Income
Tax Assessment Act; 

*      the project must be consistent with the broader aims and
objectives of the Foundation (published on this website); and 

*      all areas of the attached form must be completed.

The Leukaemia & Lymphoma Society- Career Development Program: Letters of
Intent 

 

Introduction: The Program supports fundamental research in genetics,
molecular and cell biology, molecular pharmacology, molecular virology
and immunology. The program also encompasses translational research
directly relevant to the improved treatment or diagnosis of leukaemia,
lymphoma, myeloma and, where applicable, to prevention.

Scholar 
Scholars are highly qualified investigators who have shown a capacity
for independent, sustained original investigation in the field of
leukaemia, lymphoma, and myeloma.  Scholar awards are for US$110,000 per
year for five years.

Scholar in Clinical Research 
Scholars in Clinical Research are highly qualified investigators who are
expected to hold independent faculty-level appointments and who are
conducting original, independent applied research.  Awards are for
US$110,000 per year for five years.

Special Fellow 
Special Fellows are qualified investigators who have completed a minimum
of two years of postdoctoral research training and are continuing their
research under the direction of a research Sponsor. Awards are for
US$65,000 per year for three years.

Special Fellow in Clinical Research (SFCR)  
Special Fellows are researchers who hold a Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent
degree and have completed a minimum of two years of clinical
haematology, oncology, haematology/oncology or hematopathology training
or postdoctoral research training in a clinical discipline.  SFCR awards
are for US$65,000 per year for three years.

Fellow 
Fellows are promising investigators with less than two years of
postdoctoral research training.  Awards are for US$55,000  per year for
three years.

CSANZ Travelling Fellowships- American Heart Association Scientific
Sessions

 

Introduction: Applications are called for the CSANZ Travelling
Fellowships for travel grants to enable three investigators to attend
the Scientific Sessions 2007 of the American Heart Association to be
held in Orlando, Florida, 4th November, 2007. The Fellowships are
intended to provide an opportunity for investigators in the early stage
of their research career, to present at a major international
conference.

Eligibility: Applicants must be either FCSANZ, Associate Members or
Affiliate Members of the Cardiac Society or researchers in cardiology or
cardiac surgery and related disciplines with preference given to those
attending their first meeting.

Amount Awarded: The Fellowships are valued at AU$3,000 each.

The Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia (SHPA)- DBL Development
Fund 

 

Introduction: The DBL funds will be available for conference expenses,
travel costs, textbooks, research projects and associated equipment, and
other development purposes.  Activities that will be considered for
funding include support for: attendance at National and International
conferences (up to $2,500 maximum amount awarded for International
Conferences); study tours National and International (up to $3,500
maximum amount awarded for International

Study Tours); text books and other resource material used for personal
development, etc 

Eligibility: Applicants are required to have 12 months current
membership with SHPA. 

Amount Awarded: Up to a total of $40,000 for the fund in 2007.

The Norman Wettenhall Foundation- Research Grants  

 

Introduction: The objectives of the Foundation are to support and
encourage research, education and recording of all aspects of
Australia's natural environment; and to build capacity in local
communities to effect long-term beneficial change in the natural
environment.

In no more than three pages, applicants are asked to provide a brief
description of the proposed project, including: Project rationale,
project objectives, strategies, budget breakdown of project costs, level
of funding sought and measures of success.

*      Projects concerned with advocacy, buildings, art, general
education, social welfare and medical research or health matters are
excluded.  

Overheads: This scheme is exempt from University of Sydney overhead
charges.

Australian Academy of Science- 2008 Selby Travelling Fellowship 

 

Introduction: The Fellowship is financed through the generosity of the
trustees of the Selby Scientific Foundation. In 1980 the Director of H.
B. Selby Australia recognised the need for a continuing source of funds
to help finance education, research and development in the fields of
science and medicine.  Fellows are expected to increase public awareness
of science and scientific issues and accordingly will be outstanding
lecturers to the general lay public.  

Eligibility: Fellowships are awarded to distinguished overseas
scientists to visit Australia for public lecture/seminar tours and to
visit scientific centres in Australia. 

Amount Awarded: Up to $A10,000 is available to cover economy airfares
and assistance towards living expenses.  

Overheads: This scheme is exempt from University of Sydney overhead
charges.

Australian Academy of Science- Maxwell Ralph Jacobs Fund  

 

Introduction: In 1983 the Australian Academy of Science in conjunction
with the Institute of Foresters of Australia and the New Zealand
Institute of Foresters established a fund to commemorate his life and
work. The fund is used to support worthy projects in any field of
forestry research and to provide graduates within Australasia with
support not readily available from other sources.  

Eligibility: Work to be carried out in or related to Australasia in any
field of forestry science.  

Amount Awarded: Two grants are usually allocated each year at
approximately $2,500 each.  

Overheads: This scheme is exempt from University of Sydney overhead
charges.
