Forest & Wood Products R & D Corporation - Request for Preliminary
Research Proposals

 

Introduction to Funding Opportunity: The FWPRDC seeks to commission a
study of the material and processing properties of current Australian
Araucaria resources that will lead to improvements in industry
understanding of the current and future resource quality and its impact
on product recovery. Interested researchers are invited to submit a
Preliminary Research Proposal to the FWPRDC outlining proposed
methodologies, project timeframes and project collaborators.

The Queensland Government's Responsible Gambling Research Grants Program
- Research Grants

 

Introduction to Funding Opportunity: The Responsible Gambling Research
Gambling Program aims to enhance the quality and quantity of
gambling-related research and contribute to the development of gambling
policy in Queensland. The Program offers research grant funding to
organisations that can demonstrate a capacity to effectively and
rigorously complete high quality research projects. It strives to
encourage creative, innovative and original research into
gambling-related issues and aims to provide knowledge that delivers
improved outcomes in protection, prevention and rehabilitation in
respect of problem gambling.

Eligibility: The Program offers research grant funding to organisations
that can demonstrate a capacity to effectively and rigorously complete
high quality research projects.

The Australian Rotary Health Research Fund (ARHRF) - Research Grants in
Mental Illness

 

Introduction to Funding Opportunity: The Australian Rotary Health
Research Fund invites applications for grants in support of research
projects. 

Eligibility: Applicants must be an Australian citizen or have Permanent
Resident Status and not be under bond to any foreign government.
Applicants are to provide, where appropriate, evidence of resident
status.

Amount awarded: The total budget for one year of funding MUST NOT exceed
$60,000.

The Criminology Research Council - Research Grants

 

Introduction to Funding Opportunity: The Criminology Research Council
controls and administers the Criminology Research Fund which provides
research grants to researchers in universities, government departments
or similar institutions within Australia.

The Council's role is to fund criminological research from a budget
supported by its members and relates to methodologically sound research
in the areas of sociology, psychology, law, statistics, police,
judiciary, corrections, mental health, social welfare, education and
related fields. The research to be conducted is policy-oriented, and
research outcomes should have the potential for application in other
jurisdictions or nationally.

Eligibility: Please see section 10. (Procedure for Processing
Applications) of the guidelines: 

1.i The criteria taken into account by the Council when assessing
applications include:

Amount awarded: Grants are usually awarded for periods of twelve months
from the dates of approval and are generally paid in instalments

Christopher Reeve Foundation - Individual Research Grants

 

Introduction to Funding Opportunity: The Christopher Reeve Foundation
funds activities that hold promise of identifying therapies for
paralysis caused by spinal cord injury and other sequelae of central
nervous system injury. The areas of research listed in the guidelines
are the focus of current CRF emphasis and funding.

Eligibility: Applications will be accepted from those with a PhD, MD or
other equivalent professional degree, employed at a qualifying research
institution.

Amount awarded: Two-year Awards are available for senior scientists and
young investigators with a maximum funding level of $75,000 per year.

Overheads: This scheme is subject to the University of Sydney overheads
(indirect costs limited to 10% of the direct)

Retina Australia - Research Grants

 

Introduction to Funding Opportunity: Retina Australia invites
applications for funding of high quality scientific/medical research
relevant to causes, treatments, prevention and cure of retinitis
pigmentosa and other inherited and age-related retinal dystrophies.
Applications shall be lodged with Retina Australia in the form of a
NH&MRC (or equivalent body) research application which may be either -

      1.1  a new application for NHMRC funding; or

       1.2   a previously successful application that will receive
continued                                   NH&MRC funding in the year
for which Retina Australia funding is                          sought.

Amount awarded: A Retina Australia grant will not normally exceed
$40,000 in any one year but special consideration may be given to
extending this limit to $60,000 in the case of a highly ranked
application

The Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) Global Research Foundation -
Request for Letter of Intent

 

Introduction to Funding Opportunity: The Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia
(CLL) Global Research Foundation's Scientific Advisory Board has
outlined the following research priorities. All research proposals must
address at least one of the priorities.

 Proteomics and other post-genomic technologies applied to the
investigation of CLL Drug development 

*	Molecular definition and characterization of prognostic factors,
relevant to the natural history of CLL 
*	Molecular targets in CLL 
*	Identification of and interruption of CLL survival pathways 
*	New vaccine and gene therapy approaches 
*	New monoclonal antibodies that target CLL cells or restore
immune functions 
*	Etiology of CLL: 

	1.	molecular genetics 
	2.	extrinsic factors 

*	Methods for quantifying residual disease in CLL 

Cell/Stroma interaction

Eligibility: Individuals with an MD or PhD are eligible to apply

Amount awarded: Awards will be limited to an annual amount of US
$100,000 

Overheads: This scheme is subject to the University overheads (limited
to 5%)

The Australian Rotary Health Research Fund (ARHRF) - Colin Dodds
Fellowship 

 

Introduction to Funding Opportunity: The Colin Dodds Postdoctoral Fellow
is expected to conceive of and carry out research independently or as
part of a team of researchers.  The Fellow is expected to make
independent and original contributions to research and to continue to
develop relevant research expertise and leadership.

Eligibility: Applicants must be an Australian citizen or have Permanent
Resident Status and not be under bond to any foreign government.
Applicants are to provide, where appropriate, evidence of resident
status. Please see the requirements and skill base section of the

Amount awarded: The salary scale shall be as determined by the
University to a maximum of $75,000 per year and is subject to income
tax.
