1 French Department of Research - Calls for Proposals 2005
The French department of Research http://www.recherche.gouv.fr/ renews its call for proposal "Support for Stays by High Level Researchers"
The program covers all fields of science and helps high-level researchers travel to France within the frame of a program of research and cooperation.
The SSHN (Séjour Scientifique de Haut Niveau) Call for Proposals offers between 2150 and 3200 euros (3500-5300 AUD) per month.

2 Arthritis Foundation of Australia - Grants-in-Aid & Special Purpose Grants
The objectives of the research and professional education program are:
To support specific research projects into arthritis and other musculoskeletal disorders; and to support and foster the career development of scientists and clinical investigators committed to research into arthritis and allied disorders.
Project grants are typically for short-term projects with well-defined aims that can be achieved within a 12-month period. In some cases these Grants in Aid address particular questions and may complement larger established programs of research.

3 Cure Cancer Australia Foundation - Research Grants

Cure Cancer Australia Foundation (formerly the Leo & Jenny Leukaemia and Cancer Foundation) funds applications for grants for one year in the field of research and clinical investigations into malignant disease. 4 Kidney Health Australia - Seeding Grants
Kidney Health Australia provides funds of up to $15,000 for an optional maximum of two years. Seeding funds are awarded to assist the development of new research ideas, to form solid preliminary data to the point where they can be submitted to the NHMRC (or other) funding body for full funding.

5 Australian Brewers' Foundation - Alcohol-Related Medical Research Grant Scheme 2006
The Australian Brewers' Foundation has made available funds for alcohol-related research in 2005. Grants may be given to support research on the medical, social and public health aspects of moderate, hazardous or harmful alcohol consumption. Grants are generally for one year, in the range of $25,000 to $35,000, although applications will be accepted in the range of $2,000 to $50,000.

8 Alexander von Humboldt Foundation - Research Fellowships
The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation enables highly qualified, early-stage researchers from abroad, who hold doctorates, to carry out research projects of their own choice in Germany (age limit: 40; parental leave will be taken into account). Applications may be submitted for long-term research stays of at least 6 and at most 12 months; an extension of up to 24 months is possible. Funding is not available for short-term study visits, participation in conferences, or training courses.

The AAH and the Swedish Royal Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities have an Exchange Agreement which provides for one established Australian scholar per year, who is able to cover travel to Europe independently, and who wishes to do research in Sweden, to visit for a maximum of one month.

10 Australian Academy of Science - International Scientific Collaborations Program - Scientific Visits to Asia (China, Japan, Korea or Taiwan)
The International Scientific Collaborations Program from AAS focuses on linkages with four countries in Asia: China, Japan, Korea and Taiwan. Successful applicants will receive from the Academy a grant-in-aid of up to $5200. This is based on a contribution towards travel between Australia and the host institution(s) up to a maximum of $1800, and a living allowance of up to $3,400 ($2000 maximum for the first two weeks, and $100 per day maximum for additional days).

11 Australian Academy of Science - International Scientific Collaborations Program - Scientific visits to Europe in FY2006-2007
The Australian Academy of Science invites applications from professional scientists to visit China between 1 July 2006 and 30 June 2007 to collaborate with researchers in institutes affiliated with the Chinese Academy of Sciences. A list of the applicable institutes is attached to the application form. Proposals in any field of natural science, basic and applied, including mathematics and engineering science, will be considered.

The Australian Academy of Science invites applications from professional scientists to visit the United States of America, Canada and Mexico between 1 July 2006 and 30 June 2007 to collaborate with researchers in those countries. Proposals in any field of natural science, basic and applied, including mathematics and engineering science, will be considered. Applicants must hold a PhD degree or equivalent at the time of application.

National Heart Foundation (NHF) - Travel Grants
The National Heart Foundation offers Travel Grants to researchers working in the area of cardiovascular disease or related areas.There is a limit of $1000 to be requested by all applicants excluding current NHF Fellows.

14 Australian Pork Ltd - Travel and Distinguished Visitor Awards
The Australian Pork Limited recognises that travel is an essential component of the process of R&D and technology transfer. Furthermore, reports and experiences from such travel are important for APL's program and the industry at large. Each year funds are allocated to support travel to workshops and to support the visits of industry experts where such travel can be shown to be of benefit to the Australian pork industry. Maximum support for either of these awards will be in the order of $10,000.
