Special Research Office Bulletin - NHMRC Project Grants and State Cancer
Council and National Breast Cancer Foundation Grants 2005 for 2006

The Applicant IDs for NHMRC Project Grants (which are also to be used
for the State Cancer Councils and National Breast Cancer Foundation
Grants - see below) are now available.

To assist you with the application process, please see the detailed USyd
Instructions, which have been posted on to the Research Office Web Site
and can be accessed at http://www.usyd.edu.au/su/reschols/welcome.html

The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) and State Cancer Councils
(including NSW Cancer Council) 
The State Cancer Councils and the National Breast Cancer Foundation
(NBCF) have agreed that commencing in 2005, all cancer research grant
applications will be assessed and ranked via the NHMRC Project Grant
process. Applicants will submit their applications to the NHMRC,
adhering to the NHMRC guidelines. 

The rationale for the change in procedure is to reduce the current
duplication of effort and burden on applicants, assessors and committee
members. Whilst all cancer research grant applications will be processed
via the NHMRC process, the Cancer Councils and NBCF will continue to
make the funding decisions, as is current practice.

Note that the internal closing date for applications is Friday 4
February 2005.
