THE CURE CANCER AUSTRALIA FOUNDATION, FORMERLY THE LEO & JENNY LEUKAEMIA
AND CANCER: YOUNG RESEARCHER OF THE YEAR AWARD
The Foundation has supported research into malignant disease for over 30
years. In recognition of the exceptional abilities of emerging research
talent, the Foundation presents the prestigious annual Award to the value
of $5,000 cash. Presentation of the Award will be during the Young
Researcher Dinner on Monday 12 May 2003 at Parliament House.

NATIONAL HEALTH AND MEDICAL RESEARCH COUNCIL:
AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN HEALTH AND MEDICAL RESEARCH
The NHMRC is offering an annual Award open to researchers who have
completed a PhD within the last 15 years. The Award, made in recognition of
outstanding individual achievement in health and medical research in
Australia, is now in its fourth year and consists of $50,000 and a
presentation medal.
Deadline for nominations is 30 April 2003. Please forward nominations to

RESEARCH GRANTS
MS AUSTRALIA PROJECT GRANTS AND SEEDING GRANTS
Project grants are MSA's main avenue for the support of research relevant
to multiple sclerosis. Applications are invited to submit for small grants
($5,000 for one year only) to 'seed' the earliest stages of new research
efforts. Please note, for all applications, the deadline for ethics
approval is 31 August 2003.

TELSTRA FOUNDATION COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FUND
The Community Development Fund supports charitable organizations that
assist or support Australian children and young people. Projects should
focus on benefiting children and young people who are 18 years and
under. Project topic suggestions can be found on the Telstra website.

FELLOWSHIPS AND AWARDS
NATIONAL HEART FOUNDATION RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS
The Foundation offers Postdoctoral Fellowships, Overseas Research
Fellowships, and Career Development Fellowships to graduates of recognised
institutions whose usual place of residence is in Australia and who propose
to engage in basic, clinical and public health research related to CVD and
