RESEARCH GRANTS
ASSOCIATION FOR INTERNATIONAL CANCER RESEARCH
The AICR's aim is to support fundamental research into the causes, 
mechanisms, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cancer. The emphasis is 
on scientific, as opposed to clinical research. The Association is keen to 
support recently qualified researchers, work in areas that are relatively 
under funded or unexplored and preliminary research projects. Three-year 
project grants and one-year pilot grants are available.

CANCER COUNCIL (NSW)
Applications are invited for grants to support research projects into all 
aspects of cancer, including its cause, mechanism, prevention, treatment, 
and care, and the organisation and performance of cancer control services. 
Researchers working in New South Wales are eligible to apply.

SYLVIA AND CHARLES VIERTEL CHARITABLE FOUNDATION
Applications are invited for Viertel Clinical Investigator” awards of 
$55,000, given on a once only basis. Eligible applicants will be medical 
graduates or graduates of other clinical disciplines who have completed 
both their clinical and research training which will normally be at 
doctoral level and are commencing their first definitive career position, 
or have been in such a post for no more than 24 months on 30th April, 2002.

FELLOWSHIPS / TRAVEL

THE SYLVIA AND CHARLES VIERTEL CHARITABLE FOUNDATION
The Foundation invites applications for five-year Viertel Senior Medical 
Research Fellowships valued at $165,000 per annum to be held in Australia 
to commence in 2003. The Fellowships are an integral part of a scheme that 
is intended to provide both salary and project grant support for 
outstanding Australian medical researchers.
