SUMMARY FROM ARC CONSULTATION SESSION ON RESEARCH NETWORKS AT UTS ON 30 MAY
2003
The Research Office has produced a summary of the presentation by Professor
Cram of ARC on the Research Networks Consultation Session held at
University of Technology Sydney on 30 May 2003. Please note this summary

NATIONAL LIBRARY OF AUSTRALIA COMMUNITY HERITAGE GRANTS
Community Heritage Grants of up to A$8,000 are being offered to assist in
preserving the nation's significant documentary heritage
collections. Australian community organisations such as historical
societies, public libraries, indigenous and ethnic groups which collect and
provide public access to their documentary heritage collections are
eligible to apply. For application and guidelines please refer to the

AUSTRALIAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCE AWARDS
The Academy recognises distinguished research performance by
scientists. The Academy is offering a variety of junior awards and senior
awards for those researchers who have made major contributions over their
working lives. The medals range between A$1,000 to A$5,000. For more

RESEARCH GRANTS
PROJECT AWARE FOUNDATION GRANT PROGRAM
The Project AWARE Foundation offers a Grant Program each quarter, which
supports worthwhile aquatic conservation projects, including
environmentally focused
research that leads to conservation measures. Two Awards are offered: 1)
Micro Grant Program of up to US $1000 and 2) Macro Grant Program of up to
US $10,000.

JAPAN FOUNDATION ASIA CENTRE GRANT PROGRAM ROUND ONE
The Asia Center is offering grants up to A$30,000 for research, workshops
or conferences, training of human resources, documentation, or
dissemination of research that aim to promote intellectual exchange in the
Asian region; and Encourage cultural vitality in Asia. The program is
competitive, with a success rate of about 1 in 10.

THE CANADA-ASIA-PACIFIC AWARD IN CANADIAN STUDIES (CAPA)
The Government of Canada is offering grants ranging from CAD$5,000 to
CAD$10,000 to recognized institution of higher education or equivalent
degree-granting institution staff to cover short term research, including
collaborative research, contributing to the understanding of bilateral and
multilateral relations between Canada and the Asia-Pacific Region.

CANADIAN HIGH COMMISSION - FACULTY ENRICHMENT PROGRAM (FEP)
The Government of Canada has established several Canadian Studies Programs
to develop a better knowledge and understanding of Canada by providing
support for the development of teaching, research and publications about
Canada in tertiary institutions with a maximum amount of up to CAN$ 5,400.

FELLOWSHIPS & AWARDS
FOUNDATION FOR HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE RESEARCH - POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP
The Foundation supports research into high blood pressure, hypertension and
associated cardiovascular diseases. Applications are invited to apply for a
Research Fellowship to finance a project at an Australian Research
institution. The award is for a period of two years, of up to $72,500 (1st
year) and $75,000 (2nd year).

CYSTIC FIBROSIS AUSTRALIA - ALLIED HEALTH FELLOWSHIP
Cystic Fibrosis Australia supports Allied Health Professionals working in
Cystic Fibrosis care in Australia and is subsequently offering a Fellowship
of up to $4,000 which covers: nursing, dietetics, physiotherapy, social
work, psychology and occupational therapy. Joint applications can be made.

GARNETT PASSE & RODNEY WILLIAMS MEMORIAL FOUNDATION - RESEARCH TRAINING
FELLOWSHIPS
Applications are invited for Research Training Fellowships in
Otorhinolaryngology or related fields of biomedical science to commence in
2004. Fellowships will be for a period up to two years but may be extended
for a third year in special circumstances with a written application to the
