ARC RESEARCH NETWORKS
On Friday 30 May 2003, Professor Cram from ARC gave a presentation on ARC 
Research Networks.  A number of interested researchers have contacted the 
Research Office and advised that they were unable to attend the

THE MEDICAL FOUNDATION  DR BERNARD LAKE AWARD
Each year, The Medical Foundation, of The University of Sydney, invites 
applications for consideration for the 2003 Dr Bernard Lake Award.  The 
Award amount in 2003 is $2,000.  For more information see:

RESEARCH GRANTS

COMMONWEALTH OFFICE OF THE STATUS OF WOMEN - WOMEN'S DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
Two separate funding streams are available: 1) up to $50,000 for 
significant projects and research relevant to current women's issues and to 
the Government's strategic goals for women; and 2) up to $25,000 for 
smaller projects that are capacity building activities which aim to 
strengthen effectiveness.

ARTHRITIS FOUNDATION OF AUSTRALIA GRANTS-IN-AID & SPECIAL PURPOSE GRANTS
Grants are available to support specific research projects into arthritis 
and other musculoskeletal disorders, and foster the career development of 
scientists and clinical investigators committed to research into arthritis 
and allied disorders.  Amount allocated is generally in the range of 
$10,000 - $15,000 per grant.

CANADIAN HIGH COMMISSION - CANADIAN STUDIES FACULTY RESEARCH PROGRAM
The purpose is to increase knowledge and understanding of Canada through 
publication abroad of pertinent articles in the scholarly press. The award 
assists with direct costs related to the research project.  Travel 
undertaken must be during the period 1 April 2004 to 28 February 2005.

APEX FOUNDATION FOR RESEARCH INTO INTELLECTUAL DISABILITY RESEARCH GRANTS
Grants may be awarded to workers in any discipline (medical, educational, 
epidemiological, psychological, biological, sociological, etc), which is 
concerned with the causes, diagnosis, prevention or treatment of 
intellectual disability and allied conditions.

CSIRO MARINE RESEARCH - NATIONAL FACILITY RESEARCH VESSEL SOUTHERN SURVEYOR
The National Facility Research Vessel Southern Surveyor provides a service 
to support Australian ocean research.  The Southern Surveyor is available 
on a peer-reviewed, competitive basis to Australian marine researchers and 
their international collaborators.

GARNETT PASSE & RODNEY WILLIAMS MEMORIAL FOUNDATION PROJECT GRANTS
Applications are invited for Project Grants for research in 
Otorhinolaryngology or the related fields of biomedical science to commence 
in 2004. Project Grants are for a period of up to 3 years.  The annual 
level of support will not exceed A$90,000.

Applications are now open for the 2004 Arthritis Foundation of Australia 
Post-Doctoral Fellowships. The award covers all areas of research relevant 
to arthritis, rheumatic diseases or other musculoskeletal diseases or 
conditions.

GARNETT PASSE & RODNEY WILLIAMS MEMORIAL FOUNDATION - SENIOR/PRINCIPAL 
RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP
Applications are invited for a one-term, five-year Senior/Principal 
Research Fellowship in Otorhinolaryngology or the related fields of 
biomedical science to commence in 2004. The Fellowship will be funded to a 
maximum of AUD$165,000 per annum all-inclusive.
