CONTENTS
ARC Linkage Linkage Infrastructure, Equipment and Facilities Scheme for
funding in 2004
The Linkage Infrastructure, Equipment and Facilities application forms are
now available online in GAMS. The Instructions to Applicants and the
Funding Rules (Guidelines) are available on the ARC website at
http://www.arc.gov.au/ncgp/linkage/international/default.htm and
http://www.arc.gov.au/ncgp/linkage/infrastructure/default.htm respectively.
To receive a GAMS ID and password please email your full name, staff number
and DOB to Kathleen Howard at research at reschols.usyd.edu.au
The University of Sydney Research Office (RO) will be producing a
comprehensive set of instructions to University of Sydney applicants which
will be available shortly on the RO website.
The following LIEF timetable will apply:
17 March - Internal Closing Date for mature version of application
including internal/external contributions
24 April - Final version of applications due to Research Office
1 May - Applications submitted to the ARC

AUSTRALIAN PORK LIMITED TRAVEL AND DISTINGUISHED VISITOR AWARDS
The distinguished visitor award is primarily aimed at those industry
personnel who are recognized for their contribution to their respective
national / international industry specialty and would potentially be able
to extend that expertise for the benefit of the Australian pork industry.
Deadlines for applications is 1st March 2003. Information can be obtained
on www.apl.au.com/
2003 SCIENCE PRIZES: CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
Nominations are invited for a variety of Science Prizes, including the
Prime Ministers Prize, an award given annually to an Australian citizen
for outstanding specific achievement in any area of science advancing human
welfare or benefiting society.
The deadline for nominations is 26th March, 2003. Further information can

RESEARCH GRANTS
NSW DEPT OF LAND AND WATER CONSERVATION WETLANDS ACTION GRANTS PROGRAM
The Wetlands Action Grants are available for projects which will focus on
maintaining or enhancing the ecological functions and processes of natural
wetlands. A maximum of $20,000 is available for any one project in any one
year.

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AUSTRALIA PROJECTS PROGRAM
In 2004, Emergency Management Australia invites proposals for funding of
projects related to the reduction of disaster-related loss of life,
property damage and economic and social disruption in Australia. Project
funding will be in the order of $5,000 to $100,000 per project.

THE DENTAL BOARD OF NSW RESEARCH AND EDUCATION GRANTS
These grants, designed to support a formal research project which is
directly related to dentistry, are only available to dentists who are
registered in NSW or to approved institutions in NSW. Grants will normally
be limited to a value of $10,000 and will not normally be available for the
purchase of instruments, machinery and equipment only.

AMERICAN ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY CHRETIEN INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH GRANTS
The AAS is offering research grants to further international collaborative
projects in observational astronomy. Emphasis is on long-term visits and
the development of close working relationships with astronomers in other
countries. Up to US$20,000 is available each year to one or more
individuals or groups.

GRAINS RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (GRDC) -TRAVEL/CONFERENCE GRANTS
The Grain Research and Development Corporation's (GRDC) primary goal is to
invest in research, development and related activities to benefit
Australian grain growers. Applications are invited from Australian
researchers, research organisations and institutions for GRDC
Travel/Conference support which may cover international or domestic
airfares (economy), registration fees and subsistence.
