As part of the Quality Audit Review the Research Office will be closed on

The University of Sydney Cancer Research Fund aims to support, on a
competitive basis, high quality research projects into cancer which will
contribute to a better understanding of causes, improved treatment and
enhanced survival and quality of life for cancer patients.

SESQUI
SESQUI R&D AND NEW STAFF SUPPORT
The Sesqui Research & Development (R&D) Scheme and the Sesqui New Staff
Support Scheme aim to support, on a competitive basis, high quality
research projects that are likely to lead to external funding. In 2004 both
Schemes are open to research in all fields. Applications to SESQUI R&D and
New Staff Support for funding commencing in 2004 are now open.

SESQUI RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT GRANT MAJOR EQUIPMENT FUND 2004
Funding for major equipment will continue in 2004 as part of the
Universitys Sesqui Research and Development Grant Scheme. Each Faculty
Research Committee may submit, through its Dean, applications for new and
renewal items of major equipment.
Applications to the SESQUI R&D Major Equipment Fund for funding commencing
in 2004 are now open.

SESQUI POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS 2004
The University of Sydney Postdoctoral Fellowships were established in 1996
to support excellence in full-time research undertaken in any Department or
School at the University. Successful applicants are expected to be based
full-time at the University for the duration of the Fellowship. The
University will be offering up to fifteen new Fellowships in 2004.
Applications for SESQUI Postdoctoral Research Fellowships commencing in
2004 are now open.

LAW & JUSTICE FOUNDATION OF NEW SOUTH WALES 2003 JUSTICE AWARDS
The 2003 Justice Awards will be presented at a dinner at Parliament House
on Monday 13 October 2003. The Law & Justice Foundation of New South Wales
are inviting nominations for the following Awards:

ACADEMY OF THE SOCIAL SCIENCES CALL FOR WORKSHOP PROPOSALS
The Workshop Program of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia

RESEARCH GRANTS
MERCY FOUNDATION GRANTS
The Mercy Foundation provides practical support for people who are working
together for the elimination of poverty and the creation of a more just
social order. Priority is given to groups that have difficulty attracting
funding from other sources and are made up of or include people who are
experiencing poverty or injustice. The range for Grants is normally $5,000
- $15,000.

AINSE AWARDS 2004 SERIES
Applications are invited from university researchers in the fields, or
applications, of nuclear science and associated technology. A research
project of interest to the Institute will usually require some use of the
national facilities at the Lucas Heights Research Laboratories near Sydney,

considered.

FELLOWSHIPS & AWARDS
AUSTRALIAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCE POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS IN SCIENCE AND
ENGINEERING REPUBLIC OF KOREA
The Korea Science and Engineering Foundation (KOSEF), in association with
the Australian Academy of Science invites applications from young
Australian researchers to conduct Postdoctoral Fellowships in the Republic
of Korea. Fellowships are for periods of six to twelve months and must
commence between 1 January 2004 and 30 April 2004. Fellows will be provided
with a round-trip plane ticket, monthly living allowance of 1,300,000 Won,
and overseas travel accident insurance.

The International Seminars Support Scheme (ISSS) is an AusAID program

be provided for any one seminar.
