ALEXANDER VON HUMBOLDT FELLOWSHIPS TO GERMANY
600 Humboldt Research Fellowships are available annually to highly 
qualified foreign scholarships holding doctorates and aged up to 40 years, 
enabling them to undertake long-term periods of research (6 to 24 months) 
in the Federal Republic of Germany.  An informational booklet is available

NSW MINISTRY FOR THE ARTS  CULTURAL GRANTS PROGRAM
Financial support for arts and cultural activities are available to assist 
with capital works, music, theatre, dance, literature, visual and 
multicultural arts.  The 2004 Cultural Grants Program is open to non-profit 
organizations, local government authorities, and to tertiary institutions 
for community-based projects.

NSW MINISTRY FOR THE ARTS  - INDIGENOUS ARTS, WRITER'S, AND HISTORY FELLOWSHIPS
A number of fellowships, scholarships and awards are being offered to 
writers, artists and scholars living in NSW to further develop their 
career, advance Australian literature, and to add or bring fresh 
perspectives to the industry.

AUSTRALIA COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS
The Council is offering financial assistance in Literature for new work in 
3 categories:
emerging writers; developing writers; and established writers, with award 
amounts ranging from $5,000 to $25,000.  The Council is also offering 
Literature Fellowships and Literature Writer's Emeritus Awards valued at up 
to $40,000.  The purpose of these Fellowships and Awards is to acknowledge 
excellence and achievements in Australian literature.

RESEARCH GRANTS

BHP BILLITON COMMUNITY TRUST GRANTS
BHP Trust supports not-for-profit organisations in Australia each year with 
a small number of national projects ranging from $50,000 to $100,000 over a 
1-3 year period. Preference will be given to projects in: Culture, 
Education, training and leadership, Community welfare, Medical research, 
Environment, and International community development.

LEAKEY FOUNDATION GENERAL RESEARCH GRANTS
The Foundation was formed to foster research into human origins including 
research into environments, archeology, and human paleontology of Miocene, 
Pliocene, and Pleistocene; the behavior, morphology, ecology of the great 
apes and other primate species; and the behavioral ecology of contemporary 
hunter-gatherers.  Grants awarded twice annually are between 
US$3,000-US$12,000.  Larger grants are up to US$20,000.

CONFERENCE & TRAVEL

AUSTRALIAN PORK LTD - TRAVEL GRANTS AND DISTINQUISHED VISITOR AWARDS
APL recognises that travel is an essential component of the process of R&D 
and technology transfer.  Each year funds are allocated to support travel 
to workshops and to support the visits of industry experts where such 
travel can be shown to be of benefit to the Australian pork industry.
Maximum support for either of these awards will be in the order of $10,000.
