AUSTRALIAN PARTNERSHIP FOR ADVANCED COMPUTING NATIONAL FACULTY - MERIT 
ALLOCATION SCHEME AND START-UP GRANTS
Applications are called for awards of computer time under this Scheme for 
the period of Jul 2003 - Dec 2003.  Allocations will be made for up to 12 
months at a time and likely to be around 50,000 processor hours.  More 
resources are available for substantial projects.  Smaller 'Start-up 
Grants' are also available to enable researchers to assess the usefulness 
of the Facility for their research and to assist in framing proposals to 
the Scheme.

ANNUAL WORKSHOP FOR RESEARCH ADMINISTRATORS (AND OTHER INTERESTED 
RESEARCHERS/COLLEGE/FACULTY/DEPARTMENT STAFF)
UTS is hosting a workshop focusing on international funding to be held at 
UTS, Building 6, Peter Johnson Building, Level 4, Harris Street entrance, 
Room 6.416 commencing 9.30am to 4.30pm on Friday 30 May 2003.  The morning 
session will deal with US funding opportunities and the afternoon session 
will deal with European (6th Framework mainly) funding opportunities. All 
welcome!
Cost for the workshop is free for ARMS members and $75 for non-members 
(includes ARMS membership for 1 year).  Payments are to be made by cheque

AUSTRALIAN SPINAL RESEARCH FOUNDATION  RESEARCH GRANTS
ASRF invites applications for grants to support research concerning 
Chiropractic. Priority will be given to projects that investigate the 
vertebral subluxation complex, how Chiropractic contributes to well-being 
and quality of life, chiropractic case series studies that investigate care 
for conditions other than musculo-skeletal pain and headache.

GUGGENHEIM (HARRY FRANK) FOUNDATION  RESEARCH GRANTS
The Foundation welcomes proposals from any of the natural and social 
sciences and the humanities that promise to increase understanding of the 
causes, manifestations, and control of violence, aggression, and dominance. 
Awards normally range from US$15,000 to US$30,000 per year for one or two 
years.

PEDIATRIC BRAIN TUMOR FOUNDATION  BASIC RESEARCH PROPOSAL
PBTFUS is offering funding for the support of no more than 5 basic 
laboratory research projects exhibiting outstanding scientific 
merit.  Funds available for each grant are US$50,000 pa for 2 years not to 
exceed a total of US$100,000.

FELLOWSHIPS & AWARDS

ANSTO  AUSTRALIAN SYNCHROTRON RESEARCH PROGRAM  AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL 
BEAMLINE FACILITY RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS
ASRP is offering up to 6 ASRP Research Fellowships are on offer, initially 
tenable for 2 years, with provision for extension to a 3rd year. Awards 
comprise a salary at Lecturer Grade A Level 6, plus a 26% contribution on 
costs, plus an allowance of $10,000 pa to scientists who have recently 
completed, or are about to complete, a doctorate in any relevant discipline 
to undertake research in areas of science and technology requiring the use 
of synchrotron radiation.

NHMRC INDUSTRY FELLOWSHIPS
Up to 10 research fellowships in industry have been established to foster 
closer interaction between Australian researchers and high technology 
industries.
They are intended to target outstanding researchers who will spend up to 2 
years in industry and 2 years in a research institution. They will be 
highly competitive and should be seen by researchers as a significant part 
of their career development.
The package offered is $85,250 pa for each of the 4 years, and will cover 
salary and on-costs, travel, allowances and direct research costs.
