RESEARCH GRANTS

MOTOR ACCIDENTS AUTHORITY  ROAD SAFETY GRANTS PROGRAM
Expression of interest are now being called for the MMA Road Safety Grant 
Program. Its aim is to contribute to a reduction in the incidence of road 
trauma groups that are a high risk or high cost to the Scheme. Priority 
target groups are youth (17-25 years), children (0-16 years) pedestrians 
and motorcyclists. Projects over $100,000 are unlikely to be funded.

RAINE ISLAND CORPORATION RESEARCH SCHEME
Each year, the Raine Island Corporation invites applications for support 
from researchers interested in conducting research on or in relation to 
Raine Island. The Corporation offers: Small grants (up to $10,000); and 
funded places on an annual field trip to Raine Island (ex Cairns).

CYSTIC FIBROSIS AUSTRALIA INC RESEARCH GRANTS
Applications are invited for Research Grants relating to Cystic Fibrosis 
including its cause, treatment and social issues. Projects will be funded

CROHN'S & COLITIS FOUNDATION OF AUSTRALIA SENIOR RESEARCH AWARD
The CCFA provides funds to stimulate and encourage innovative research in 
the basic biomedical and clinical sciences, which is likely to increase the 
understanding of the etiology, pathogenesis, therapy, and prevention of 
Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. The Senior Research Award provides 
funds to established investigators to generate sufficient data to become 
competitive for funds from other sources. Maximum award is US$100,000 per 
year for up two years.

CHRISTOPHER REEVE PARALYSIS FOUNDATION RESEARCH GRANTS
The mission of the Foundation is to support cutting-edge research to 
develop effective treatments and cures for paralysis caused by spinal cord 
injury.
The Foundation supports an international individual grants program 
(two-year awards at a maximum of US$75,000 per year) as well as a unique 
collaboration of nine laboratories through its Research Consortium on 
Spinal Cord Injury.

CANINE RESEARCH FOUNDATION GRANTS
The Canine Research Foundation is seeking applications for grants for the 
year 2004. Grants may be made by the Foundation for research projects 
relating to canine health where the research is conducted by an Australian 
university. Grants per project will normally be in the order of $5,000 to 
$15,000 in any one year.

BRAIN FOUNDATION GENERAL GRANT & PARKINSON'S DISEASE
RESEARCH GRANT
The Foundation invites applications for research grants to support research 
projects in the clinical neurosciences. Each grant is to be used for 
equipment, support personnel such as research assistants or casual help, or 
other assistance necessary for a specific project. Grants are available in 
two categories:
    * General Grants - only applies to researchers in New South Wales.
    * Parkinson's desease Research - this applies to researchers throughout 
Australia.
Each general grant awarded in 2003 will not exceed $20,000.Research Office

BATTEN DISEASE SUPPORT AND RESEARCH ASSOCIATION PROJECTS
The Batten Disease Support and Research Association (BDSRA) is pleased to 
announce that limited funds are available to promote research and/or assist 
in a viable research project/s for, but not limited to, development of 
novel therapeutic approaches to treatment for NCL, development of new or 
novel animal systems for researching and understanding the pathogenic 
mechanisms of NCL, and development of treatments that will alleviate the 
symptoms of Batten Disease, and other projects that further the 
understanding of NCL. Grant awards are available up to US$35,000.
