SIR JOHN ECCLES SYMPOSIUM
A symposium is being held in Auckland, New Zealand on 22 October 2002 to
mark the life and work of the lat Sir John Eccles. With the centenary of
his birth in early 2002, the symposium is one of several events being
planned to celebrate the legacy Sir John left to the health and medical
research community in both Australia and New Zealand and to stimulate
scientific collaboration between out two countries.
The Health Research Council of New Zealand and the National Health and
Medical Research council of Australia have joined forces to convene the
symposium, bringing together a number of leading researchers from both
countries to participate in the scientific program, which will focus on
current issues in neuroscience. Prior to the symposium there will be a
formal dinner (including a keynote address on the Life of Eccles) on the
evening of 21 October 2002. It is hoped that the event will be attended by
Health Ministers from both countries.
