That subversive David Green fellow! Glad you can join us. I think I
speak for at least some colleagues when I say this list has been a
solace to people who had been seeking a critical perspective, some
unmet friends, and some safe "blubbering" -- whether people feel like
participating loudly or lurking, the list has been a gift that I
value incalculably (is that a word?).
For me, it's been an opportunity to bring to bear on educational
development the kinds of questions I would have asked in literary and
cultural studies (my home disciplines).
Thanks for writing and I think you'll find a generous community here
(other than my tendency to react without reflection, I think it's a
friendlier bunch than most!)

I joined the list a few months ago at David Green's suggestion and feel
moved to interject here (rather inanely) how delighted I am to find
these conversations happening. Just thought I'd stop lurking a moment to
be appreciative. I'm not able to go to the Academic Identities
conference, but just reading the ideas and exchanges about the proposals
for this and ICED has been helpful in pushing me out of a mental rut.
It's been a refreshing twist on other educational developer
conversations I've been a part of and has prompted me to think in
interesting directions, for which I am grateful.
I'll stop now before I start blubbering and try to say something more
substantial next post.
