Hi Carmen,

maybe this helps as a workaround: On my Mac I usually have the window "Manage Feature Collection" open in the background. You can switch between it and the main GPlates window with a keyboard shortcut. Haven't tried GPlates in a time on Windows, though. I remember that the "Manage Feature Collection" panel used to be sticky-on-top on Windows which of course is annoying and would defeat this hint.

A while ago, I requested an auto-update feature (if a file changes on disk and there are no local unsaved changes). Since changed-file-notifications are provided by modern OS the implementation should not be difficult. I would prefer this solution over more buttons which clutter the interface.
