Dear Global Social Justice Network members,
The Sydney Peace Foundation is looking for some volunteers / interns to work on two exciting upcoming projects - a one-off event with the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) to mark the United Nations International Day of Peace on September 21, and an on-going commitment to be part of the Youth Peace Initiative.
For those not already familiar with the Sydney Peace Foundation, there's plenty of information on our website about our mission and exciting work.
www.sydneypeacefoundation.org.au<http://www.sydneypeacefoundation.org.au>
So that's twice I've used 'exciting' to describe an association with us, and for good reason! What could be more exciting than an opportunity to put into practice the concepts you're mulling over all semester in your classes, to make a difference and learn more about peace in action?? And for those of you already thinking ahead to post-graduation days, there's the other benefit of having relevant work experience on your CVs come job-hunting time.
As a University of Sydney master's (in Peace and Conflict Studies) graduate myself, I know that finding time to balance work, study and social commitments can be challenging, to say the least, but well worth it! I'd strongly encourage you to consider taking up these opportunities (if they sound appealing), as not only learning more about peace with justice in practice, but also the networking and possibilities are endless.
Please do get in touch with me if you'd like more information or to arrange a time to talk over these opportunities in person.
Cheers,
Melissa
