QFAB is seeking a talented and enthusiastic
bioinformatician who will take a key role in the
deployment, optimisation and administration of
bioinformatics applications and workflows on high
performance computing for research in molecular, genomic
and structural biology.

The Queensland Facility for Advanced Bioinformatics (QFAB)
is a leading facility with the commitment to help life
science researchers unlock the full value of their
research data through the application of bioinformatics.
It delivers advanced bioinformatics solutions to enable
the global efforts of biotechnology, research biology,
drug discovery and translational medicine. QFAB is located
at the Institute for Molecular Bioscience, in the
Queensland Bioscience Precinct at The University of
Queensland¹s St Lucia campus.

You should possess an undergraduate degree in information
technology, or a related discipline, with a significant
high performance computing component; or a degree in
bioinformatics or computational biology with software and
system administration experience and substantial
experience in relevant technical fields; or an equivalent
combination of relevant experience and/or
education/training. Demonstrated experience with
molecular-biological and/or genomic applications such as
Blast, Emboss, Soap, Mothur will be required.

You will be expected to possess skills in compiling,
installing, optimising and porting software in a high
performance computing environment together with the
ability to translate research questions into efficient
workflows. Highly developed interpersonal skills,
self-motivation and the ability to work with limited
guidance, both alone and as a member of a small team are
essential.

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 12 months
at HEW Level 5 or 6. The remuneration package will be in
the range $49,753 to $55,723 per annum (HEW Level 5) or
$57,154 - $61,589 per annum (HEW Level 6) plus employer
superannuation contributions of 17%
