This group has been created to facilitate communication between Australian immunisation practitioners, policy makers and researchers. It is modelled on a similar group in the UK. Items proposed for inclusion are in three main categories:
1. News items/publications and meetings of interest
2. A forum for questions and feedback
3. An avenue for rapid information about media controversies.
The group is a private group, chiefly for professionals involved in immunisation in Australia, whether at the level of research, policy development, or as immunisation providers. This group also welcomes professionals in other countries who wish to learn more about immunisation in Australia, and/or wish to communicate their experience with us.
This mail list discussion group was set up by the National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance of Vaccine Preventable Diseases (NCIRS). Opinions expressed on this mail list are not necessarily those of the Centre.
Those people wanting to join this list must be willing to state clearly who they are, where they work and what their involvement with immunisation is. (This is necessary to prevent inappropriate messages such as unsolicited commercial e-mail eg spam from being sent to the group.)
NCIRS will keep a watching brief on messages and will provide additional information where it is thought to be useful. In the interests of open and rapid communication, it will not be possible to screen all discussion content.
NCIRS will also regularly circulate items of interest to all members. Members will have the option to receive only news items or digests.
As the digest-mode does not handle attachments very well, we have decided to restrict all messages to text only ie. no attachments allowed. However, a subscriber can point the mailing list to a website URL where a PDF or Word doc exists.
